Tuesday 3rd May 2011 Abbécourt Day off VNF strike

Sunny with clear skies but chilly. Still no boats. We both did work on our PCs. At 2.10 p.m. a cruiser came past, an ex hireboat called Cordial, whose skipper told Mike the strike had finished. No point setting off now, too late in the day to get to a decent mooring. An empty pushtow pair of tankers called Nicole and Namur came down the locks backwards and reversed to the junction with the Abbécourt canal and then winded to carry on down the Latéral canal, another thirteen loaded boats came down during the afternoon, Fugase, Maltic, Isabelle, Roger, J.P.P.H, Marsellais, Aqua-Mundo, OVNI, MyLady, Dereadt, Valinco, Luxor and one with fresh paint and no name – the last at 7.15 p.m.
